The Bedbug Hat Trick is an annual event benefitting the David L. Bucknam Memorial Scholarship Fund. Named after the Bucknam family's beloved Volskwagen camper bus, the Hat Trick is a three-in-one event encompassing hiking, biking, and driving events. All events take place in one area, culminating in a casual, but very tasty, feast.

Raising money and having fun at the same time

The inaugural event, held in Golden Gate Canyon State Park, raised over $2,500 for the Fund. The second annual event at Castlewood Canyon State Park raised over $3,800! Each year's event brings the Fund closer to its goal of an endowment that will sustain at least one scholarship award each year—and they are a lot of fun, to boot! The donations at each event are relatively low in cost, allowing a lot of people to come and enjoy the events and each other's company while supporting the Fund and its goals at the same time.

Come join us Sunday September 9th for the Third Annual Bedbug Hat Trick!

This three-event Event has something for everyone: a beautiful driving tour, miles of singletrack for novice and expert mountain bikers, and views of the Front Range's highest peaks for the hikers, too! And of course, lots of good food and drink (Breckenridge Brewery is donating some very tasty beer this year!). Last year we had over 50 people participate, raising over $3,800 for the fund. This year, we want to do even better, and want you to be a part of it!

This year's location: Alderfer/Three Sisters Park

About 30 minutes from the Denver/Metro area, the park boasts excellent wildlife viewing opportunities, including turkey vultures and Cooper's hawks, and spectacular views of the Bear Creek Basin and Mount Evans.
